Only SSL Certificates that support Internationalised Domain Names (IDNs) in the common name field can be used to secure Web sites with domain names in non-ASCII text. All Symantec™ SSL Certificates and Symantec™ Safe Site support IDN.

Most domain names are registered in ASCII characters (A to Z, 0 to 9 and the hyphen "-"). However, non-English words that require diacritics, such as some Spanish and French words, and languages that use non-Latin scripts, such as Kanji and Arabic, cannot be rendered in ASCII. As a result, millions of Internet users struggle to find their way online using non-native scripts and languages. IDNs improve the accessibility and functionality of the Internet by enabling domain names in non-ASCII characters.
IDNs may be registered by phishers to create Web sites that mimic known and trusted domain names in other languages. To assure Web site visitors that a Web site belongs to you and you are a legitimate business entity, secure your site with an SSL Certificate and show Symantec Safe Site verification information in your language.
Symantec offers more than security for your online business. We help drive traffic to your site and reduce abandoned transactions. Our premium SSL Certificates, Symantec™ Safe Site, Symantec Seal-in-Search™ technology, and daily Web site malware scanning work together to help assure your customers that your site is safe from search to browse to buy.
