What is Symantec™ Safe Site?
The Symantec Safe Site brings trust to businesses by helping them establish credibility online. When you display Symantec Safe Site on your Web site, it means that Symantec has verified that your business or organisation is a legal entity and that your Web site belongs to you. Visitors may click the seal to confirm your information. The seal also means that your site has passed a daily malware scan and visitors can click on your site with confidence.

Who is the target customer for Symantec Safe Site?
Every Web site needs to be trusted to be successful. Growing concerns about fake sites, viruses and identity theft have made consumers reluctant to do business with Web sites they don't know and brands that are not familiar to them. As a result, small businesses struggle to draw traffic to their Web sites and to generate the confidence to buy, click, and sign in online. Any Web site or retailer who needs visitors to trust their site, but does not need the security of SSL is an ideal customer. Examples:
- E-commerce shops: Perfect for online retailers who outsource their payment or shopping basket. Your customers can post Symantec Safe Site to give their customers the confidence to buy online.
- Publishers: Traffic and clicks are critical to success. Help publishers establish credibility to promote click-throughs with Symantec Safe Site.
- Small business owners: They have established their reputation in their neighbourhood. Symantec Safe Site helps them bring that same level of trust to their Web site.
Note that if your customer's Web site uses SSL, you must use Symantec SSL in order to display Symantec Safe Site.
Why do my customers need a seal to be trusted?
Growing concerns about fake sites, viruses and identity theft have made consumers reluctant to do business with Web sites they don't know and brands that are not familiar to them. In fact, 74% of US Internet users listed identity theft as a major concern (Taylor Nelson Sofres Report, 2008). As a result, small businesses struggle to generate the confidence to buy, click, and sign in online.
The solution is showing a Web site visitor a highly visible cue that they can trust-- a trust mark. 86% of online shoppers feel more confident about entering personal information on sites using security indicators (Symantec Brand Tracking Research, 2009).

What is the difference between the Symantec Safe Site and the Norton Secured Seal?
Symantec™ Safe Site is an enhanced version of the established and highly trusted Norton™ Secured Seal. Like the Norton Secured Seal, Symantec Safe Site shows that a site is authenticated by the high standards of Symantec. However, Symantec Safe Site provides additional information in more places to help assure your customers that your site is safe from search to browse to buy. Symantec Safe Site is free with the purchase of any Symantec SSL Certificate. It may also be purchased separately for Web sites that do not require SSL for securing online transactions. Note that if your Web site uses SSL, you must use Symantec SSL in order to display Symantec Safe Site.
