Device (Type 3) Digital Certificate

What is a Device (Type 3) Digital Certificate?

Device digital certificates may be used by an organisation that wishes to identify that a particular process or application is operated by the organisation. A device certificate may identify:

  • an automated email auto-responder operated by an organisation
  • an email drop box (such as support@organisation.com.au) to send encrypted information to the organisation
  • an EDI client operated by an organisation to communicate electronically with an EDI server

To obtain a device certificate you must first obtain an ABN-DSC certificate and appoint an Authorised Officer.
